Volunteer to make this year's Winter Solstice Lantern Festival extra special!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 2018 Winter Solstice Lantern Festival. Every year the festival relies on the support and enthusiasm of more than 200 volunteers, and we'd love you to be a part of the team!
Opportunities abound before, during and after so please read through the list below and see where you think you'll have the most fun. A full description of the various volunteer roles can be found here.
1) PRE-FESTIVAL: DECEMBER 4 - 19
Join us in our open workshop to work with artists and help with a variety of workshop tasks including lantern repairs, material preparation, and all manner of hands-on activities- no experience necessary!

2) THE DAY BEFORE THE FESTIVAL: DECEMBER 20
Please register to volunteer to help create the magic by setting up a venue in your preferred location. Tasks include hanging fabric, lanterns and lights, creating beautiful décor, and generally preparing the spaces for the celebration to come!
3) FESTIVAL DAY AND NIGHT: DECEMBER 21
Enjoy solstice by helping with this community celebration! Tasks include setting up lantern installations, creating one of the two Labyrinths, assisting inside the venues while the festival is in full swing, leading a procession, or celebrating the longest night by staying late to help clean up.
4) THE DAY AFTER THE FESTIVAL: DECEMBER 22
Enjoy the afterglow! We would LOVE to have you come help pack away all the magical bits and pieces or get them organized at Secret Headquarters (home of the Secret Lantern Society).
